Everyone wants an iPod, but they are rarely on sale right? Every Black Friday you might see them $10-$15 off which isn't all that exciting. What we do notice is retailers like Best Buy, Radio Shack and even Amazon online around this time offering Gift Certificates or Store Credit for future purchases. I know Radio Shack will have the 8GB iPod Nanon for $129.99 with a FREE $15 gift card.

Nicole, I would love to! Kohl's has some of the lowest prices on the Keurig coffee brewing system I have seen in quite some time and I know that is an item on many wish lists this holiday season. And when combined with one of the promotional codes offered, and utilizing cash back sites like Ebates, it really makes it a steal of a deal.

Esther - the rewards programs work just like store gift certificates. When you buy an eligible item, you recieve a certificate for a certain amount of "store credit." For example, on Black Friday, CVS has almost 20 products that are free after ExtraCare Bucks.

To answer your question Rosa, I think we will see ridiculous deals on Electronics online this year. We will post them daily on our site.
Thursday November 17, 2011 8:42 jerry-crazytowndeals
8:43
NicolePaitsel:
So for, example, Carmex is on sale for $1 and you will receive $1 in Extra Care Bucks to spend on your next purchase, essentially making the item free. If you have LOTS of items to buy, like it sounds like you do...the best thing to do is break up your purchases. Purchase one of everything during one trip (you will only get one reward per item per transaction), then use those rewards to purchase a second batch later that day or the next day - your out-of-pocket expense for the second transaction is $0, and you will get new rewards to spend on a third purchase, etc. If you get a few ladies doing this, you should be able to rack up some great freebies!

On the $20 gift card bonus, it does require a $100 gift card purchase. Also, the $100 gift card must be purchased before Dec. 31, and the bonus $20 can only be used between Jan. 1 and Dec. 10.

Right now, you can buy a 32in HDTV at Newegg or Amazon for only $199.99. The Black Friday "online" HDTV deals started a week ago. Newegg and Amazon offer free shipping, no tax for va residents.. Walmart will have a really nice Samsung 32in on sale for $278.. but lets talk about a local store here in Newport News "SHAWEL's TV & APPLIANCE". Shawel's released a Black Friday ad which will appear in your paper that week (we are looing at it now) and it looks very similar to Walmarts. Very interesting. It looks like they are selling most of the items for a few dollars less. 70inch TV's, and many more items. So make sure before you run to Walmart that day you check out the "Shawel's TV & Appliance" ad

Mike - CrazyTownDeals:
If you have an Xbox 360, you're probably gonna want Modern Warefare 3. Amazon all last week was selling it for $57.99 + they were throwing in $25 to use on your next Xbox Live subscription. The only place I purchase my video games from is Amazon.com. The online video game prices are usually much better than the in store deals. Amazon goes nuts with their Amazon Lightning Video Games. I suggest you wait and track Newegg and Amazon for another deal on this game. Amazon loves to throw in Amazon credit on future purchases.

Mike - CrazyTownDeals:
PS3 Console question - What you see advertised at Walmart, Target and Kmart is usually matched by Amazon.com that week. But buying it online usually turns out to be the better deal. If you see Walmart offering a $100 gift card w/ a PS3 or Xbox 360 console, expect to see it offered by Amazon. Amazon offers free shipping and no tax for VA residents. For those of you looking for great deals on new video game releases or consoles, make sure to go online and check out Amazon before buying it in store.

Keurig Coffee makers.... where to buy it right? My question is this, do you have a Kohl's Charge Card? I know, who wants another credit card. Credit cards are bad right? If you have a Kohl's Charge Card they send you 20-30% off codes quite often. On top of that, they offer $10 Kohl's cash for every $50 you spend quite often. I recently had a friend ask me to find a deal on a nice Keurig Coffee Maker. Of course my first question was, DO YOU HAVE A KOHL'S CHARGE CARD? He did fortunately. Well, the model he wanted was on sale for $179.99. He used a 30% off coupon, took advantage of free shipping and the Kohl's Cash offer and really made it. In the end he got... the Keurig B60 Special Edition for about $70 after coupon and Kohl's cash. So my suggestion to everyone is go to www.kohls.com and sign up for a Kohl's Charge Card... ill be posting a Keurig deal here in 2 minutes...

Sorry, joining late so only got a chance to read back a few pages. Can you tell me where to find good deals on recent release Blurays? I know a couple of years ago, Amazon had them on Thanksgiving day. Also, looking for *really* inexpensive little rolling carry ons for little girls...

Newly released Bly-ray Movie Question - Walmart and Best Buy have some good deals in their Black Friday ad. We see $5, $10 movies. You mentioned Amazon had them on sale on Thanksgiving day last year. You are correct, Amazon will have them on sale but you won't have to wait until Thanksgiving. http://www.crazytowndeals.com/redir.php?id=76241 They don't like to wait until that day. All that week you will see "Lightning Deals" and some killer prices. Go to their site often to see what is on sale that day.

Modern Ware Fare 3! Awesome game. We mentioned earlier the hardened edition was in stock at Amazon today... for those of with an Xbox 360, we gotta have it right? For most of last week we saw Amazon and a few other online stores throwing in freebies w/ the game. Amazon was even giving you $25 in credit to use on your next 12 month xbox live subscription. Pretty hot for those of us that needed to renew. Anyway, unfortunately they deal is over BUT don't worry... if you can wait until the week of Black Friday you'll see an even better deal. Don't expect the game to sell for $29.99 because it is a very very hot game right now.. but expect to see more freebies thrown in that week. Lots of Digital Camera deals Tijuania. We posted a few we liked early on. Here they come...

This Black Friday Best Buy will have the Canon EOS Rebel T3 DSLR Camera w/ 18-55mm IS Lens for $479.99. You can add a Canon 75-300mm Lens for only $100 more which is pretty sweet! Of course Best Buy's ad says "minimum 6 per store"...

I find it fairly easy to find "leaked" advertisements for Black Friday and plan accordingly, but where can I find info on Cyber Mondays deals? I would like to know if I am wasting time and energy shopping for a deal next week when I could sit at home with my coffee and get the same deal or better.

NicolePaitsel:
Jess, that's a good question. In past years, we have seen better deals on Black Friday (which you can also purchase online on Thanksgiving Day). Cyber Monday has tended to be the leftovers or the free shipping deals. Not to say there won't be a few exciting steals, but because there are no print advertisements for those sales, we're more at the mercy of the retailers.

Are you sure that Toys R' Us will be adjusting prices for items that are purchased before the Black Friday doorbuster? So I can take my receipt in from Tues or Wed during the doorbuster sale and they will adjust prices? I searched it and in past years they didn't. I don't want to buy a bunch of stuff to find later I can't have it adjusted.

Jess, if you are like me and don't want to stand in line for 5 hrs to save a few hundred bucks (I know, thats just me right?) hop online on black friday. Look at the in store black friday ads, then scout the item online. Every year we see most of these items pop up online. They don't last long, but thats how I do my Black Friday Shopping. Cyber Monday? I shouldn't probably say this but I've never been impressed with Cyber Monday.. most of the "deals' have put me to sleep.. and I've been posting deals for 10+ years now.

About Toys R Us price adjustment - I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with a corporate customer service agent answering that question, and she assured me that the price adjustment would work on Black Friday. Ordering or purchasing the item a day before Black Friday is one of those little known tricks *ONLINE* shoppers have been doing for years. Emily - Heres The Deal:
Sasha- when I was searching for a tablet, it came down to the Kindle Fire and the iPad. I visited the Apple store at MacArthur Center and was told by an Apple employee himself that the Kindle Fire was going to give the iPad a run for it's money this holiday season. That sealed the deal for me---if I was going to be able to get pretty much the same thing as the iPad for only $199, I had made my decision right there.

Sasha, I started playing with mine yesterday and I'm very impressed. Everything works as advertised, the screen was very high def and netflix looked like a million bucks. the Silk browser was great too! The only down side is you have to get a case with it because the on/off button is on the side right where you might hold the tablet. So I'm thinking my case, when it comes, will protect that button. Here is a great initial review from Jerry about the fire.

My teenager was very impressed also.... hopped on facebook then started a movie... very snappy response.

For those of you shopping for a Xbox 360 or PS3 Console deal, we see some nice deals at Walmart, Best Buy, Target and most other stores. But as we mentioned earlier, Amazon usually offers the same deal online.. and as we mentioned, free shipping, no tax. But for those of you that haven't noticed, $50 to $100 Gift Cards or Amazon Store Credit deals w/ the Xbox 360 and PS3 were offered all last week. Those deals have been out for almost a week now. Dyson Vacuum Response - I bought my Dyson 5 week ago at Kohls.com. For those of you that don't know, Kohl's sends 30% off coupons to you if you have a Kohl's Charge Card. They also offer $10 Kohl's cash back for every $50 you spend. My Dyson cost me about $215 after discounts. I highly recomend you sign up for a Kohl's Charge Card before Black Friday. For those of you shopping for a nice Dyson, Coffee Machine or whatever.. sign up for a Kohl's charge card. Sometimes they send out stackable codes where (I did it two days ago, codes have since expired.) you can save 45% like I did .. and many of our followers at www.crazytowndeals.com

Oh Sasha- what a great question. :) Each of those stores give you store credit when you shop there for items. So for example they may have Advil for $2.50 a bottle and when you purchase it they will give you $2.50 back in store credit. You can then use that to buy something else. CVS has over 30 items like this.

Chris - Nerds On Call:
Most of the laptops being sold today are coming with plenty of RAM (memory) and hard drive space. For the casual gamer, having something with a decent graphics card is key! Gaming laptops (even if casual) are not generally going to be found at your local store -- instead, these are ordered directly from Dell/HP, etc... But can still be found at a great price!

A good example would be the Dell XPS 15z, it's roughly $900 which may seem high for a laptop, but has both the power user and casual gamer in mind.

Okay Chris I'm supposed to be helping but I have a question too! I need a new desktop. No gaming but streaming music while I work on the internet. Mine is 10 years old so pretty much anything is going to be a step up. How much should I be expecting to pay? What should I be looking for?

This is what I love about new computers, it's pretty hard to buy anything bad. Anything in a $500+ price range is going to be excellent for what you're trying to accomplish. Intel's new processors: i3, i5, i7 are all going to do an excellent job. If you can keep the memory above 4GB and hard drive size about 500GB, you've got a great computer for the long haul.

Chris - Nerds On Call:
Janet; Almost any new laptop being sold right now will accomplish that. However, I would pay attention to the size of the hard drive: keep it around 500GB or higher. Most importantly, keep in a budget that makes sense for you. Expensive computers don't always translate to better computers!

Also, Chris - to hammer away the questions at you - there is a significant price difference between dual-core models and i3 processors (and above). What type of user will really notice the difference between a dual-core and an i3 processor?
Thursday November 17, 2011 2:21 NicolePaitsel
2:23
Chris - Nerds On Call:
Anything labeled Core 2 Duo is just a generation older than the new "i" series, so they will generally be sold at a lower price. To keep current (especially if you stay in your price range), I would stick with an i3/i5. Most users won't notice, but the kids and power users might.

I saw a scan of the Dick's Sporting Goods ad and saw that they have a $25 off early bird special. Do you think that would be available online? If not, are you aware of any deals out there on sporting goods? I would rather have $$ off than a store gift card like at Sports Authority.

That's the best deal I've heard of so far. Will compare that price on Amazon. Thanks much!

PwSmith - Looks like Amazon has the same price - $647 -- on a new Canon Rebel T2i. You have to put it in your cart to see the price.

Sports Authority is also offering a $25 "cash card" when you spend $125 on NorthFace or Columbia. Also, does not thrill me too much.

The Kindle Fire, though not on sale, has gotten great reviews for the casual tablet user, and costs $199. We're not likely to see any discounts. The tablets that are discounted this year all have pretty bad reviews. Our tech expert really recommended going with the Kindle Fire if you're not going to spring for a higher-end ($500) tablet.

The doors open at midnight (like most other stores this year), and the store promises to give out a Kodak waterproof digital camera bundle to customers who spend $40. In small print, they clarify: Supples are VERY limited. I wonder how many that means?
