Target, Walmart host "Breaking Dawn" parties midnight Friday

Your nearby Target and Walmart stores will be hopping with Twi-hards midnight Friday, as fans wait to buy "Breaking Dawn" on DVD, the latest release in the popular "Twilight" series.

The retail giants are promising fans loads of themed merchandise, exclusive footage from the series' final movie, messages from the films' actors and free gifts -- all in an effort to entice DVD andBlu-raypurchases at their store.

Target will begin handing out tickets to purchase the movie at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10. At 11 p.m., the store will screen some exclusive preview footage of "Breaking Dawn: 2." The store also will hand out flowers from the movie's wedding scene -- complete with certificate of authentication.

And, if you think you'll just order the movie online, it's sold out for now, Target says.

Stores in the Greenbriar section of Chesapeake, Hampton and Norfolk will participate in the special event. Stores will close at 1 a.m.

Walmart locations will offer a special "wedding dress" themed DVD, free posters and access to music videos to its "Twilight" fans. The character Rosalie Cullen will appear on the in-store television network for a special message to fans, and the bakery will be stocked with special "Twilight" treats. Events and giveaways will begin at 11 p.m.

According to the website, fans can still preorder a copy of the movie.

Participating local stores include the Hampton, Chesapeake Square, Main Street Suffolk, Phoenix Drive, Virginia Beach, Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, Military Highway, Norfolk, Sam's Circle, Chesapeake, Lynnhaven Parkway, Virginia Beach, College Drive Suffolk, Nimmo Parkway, Virginia Beach, Rochambeau Road, Williamsburg, George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown, Waltons Lane, Gloucester and Grassfield Parkway and Hillcrest Parkway Chesapeake stores.
